Wedding Information and Requirments
The
Manor Inn and Castine, Maine are great settings for a small to
medium sized wedding. The picturesque town has several small hotels and accommodations
that provide enough lodging for up to 150 guests. In addition, rental
properties are available.
Castine has four churches: Catholic, Episcopal, Unitarian and Trinitarian. One
of our parks, Fort Madison, has a view of Castine Bay and Cape
Rosier and is often a ceremony site of choice. Some find the lighthouse
grounds or the lawn of The Manor Inn to be a great place for a ceremony. Many
have married in the living room of The Manor Inn, which accommodates smaller
gatherings. When the bride and the groom reside out of state, a marriage certificate has to be issued in Maine. Our town office will be very helpful in arranging this.
When booking a wedding from the end of May to Mid-October, there are several
activities for your guests. Golf, tennis, boating, kayaking, hiking
and biking are available in Castine. We have yoga classes here at The
Manor Inn throughout the year and we can arrange facials and massages for
you and your wedding party.
The Manor Inn has several years of experience with wedding events and can
guide you during the process of planning your reception. Depending upon
the size of the wedding and the type of food and beverage service you would
like, we customize the menu and bar to your desires.
Requirements for booking a wedding event a The Manor Inn:
Renting all rooms (currently 14) for two night of the weekend. Seasonal room rates will apply. Refer to the inns brochure for pricing of the rooms.
Initially, a deposit of $700 (non refundable) is needed to hold the rooms and the facility for the wedding event(s). As your guests call to book the rooms, we will take a regular deposit of one nights stay. Your deposit will cover any rooms not rented and the balance will be credited to your final bill.
If wedding reception and dinners are planned here at The Manor Inn, a separate proposal will be given. Pricing will depend upon the food and beverage items you select for the event. Separate deposits will be required.
Deposits for food and beverage: Upon the acceptance of the proposal --- 25% deposit; 30 days prior to the event - 50% deposit.
The final balance will be due the day of the event, after the bar has been counted.
To have a wedding event here, a facility fee will be added to the food and beverage proposal. Since the wedding is an event that usually spans over several hours, our regular dining and bar services will be suspended. This gives the facility to you and your guests to use. The fee also covers the additional staff necessary to plan, prepare, produce and serve as well as set up and tear down and cleaning after the wedding. The amount of the fee depends upon the month of the wedding and the number of people. See below for the facility fee rates:

A typical wedding reception sequence at The Manor inn: (Note: We are always open to your ideas as to how you would like your event to be organized; this is just an example.)
Cocktail HourUsually last about one hour. Gives time for your guest to gather. Hors doeuvres can be passed and/or offered at a stationery location(s). If you want to provide drinks for your guests, you may do so with a variety of combinations such as, full bar, partial bar offering, beer and wine onlyother drinks cash, non alcoholic punches, etc.
Buffet Style DinnerUsually last for 1-1/2 hours depending upon the number of guests. Most of the dinners are served buffet style, because it offers the guest a variety of selections without having to ask your guest to choose at the time of RSVP. For groups of 30 or more this works well; for less than 30 people, a plated service is suggested.
Our library is configured so that there is a good flow for the guest to plate their food and then be seated.
For large groups over 100, we have placed stations around, so that food would be available in different areas. This is more casual and the food has to be less formal; however, we have done this on several occasions and the results have been good.
Plated DinnerFor a more formal sit-down dinner, we offer plated service. This is where an offering of two choices of entrées would be sent with the Wedding Reception invitation.
Champagne ToastA time for the remarks from the best man and is often done just before the cake cutting, but it may be just before dinner. Sometimes, it is eliminated altogether.
Cake CuttingWe do not make formal wedding cakes; but have many times supplied dessert cakes. We can supply you with some names of cake makers. We do charge for cutting and plating provided by other cake.
First DanceIf music is part of the program, then the bride and groom begin this portion of the party. We had several different music venues here from small bands playing jazz to larger 7 piece bands planing swing or rock. DJs also offer another alternative.
Cancellation polityIn the unlikely event that the wedding is canceled, all or some of the deposits maybe forfeited depending upon the time of the cancellation.
If you need assistance with local florist, musicians or photographers, we can supply a list for you to contact on your own. We can suggest only those who have been here at The Manor Inn and participated in previous weddings.
